Will Nintendo take legal action over the leak of unofficial Nintendo Switch 2 information? Lawyers contact foreign manufacturers that exhibited covers at CES 2025

Nintendo will take legal action against US-based accessory manufacturer Genki for displaying a cover for an unreleased Nintendo Switch successor at the CES 2025 technology trade show held in Las Vegas in January 2025. There may be a possibility.

Genki is a hardware brand from Human Things, Inc., which sells capture boards and other peripherals primarily for the Nintendo Switch. This time, the display of the "Nintendo Switch 2" cover at CES 2025 became a hot topic.

Approached by Nintendo's lawyer

According to a report by French journalist Julien Tellouck, Nintendo's lawyer contacted Genki after hearing from an employee at the Genki booth at CES. However, Genki seems to claim that there is no problem because they have not signed a non-disclosure agreement with Nintendo.

Mr. Tellouck confirmed on YouTube a mockup of Genki's "Nintendo Switch 2" at the Genki booth at the CES venue, and explained that it would likely be an 8.4-inch LED and that the Joy-Cons would be larger. He also spoke with someone at Genki and heard that Nintendo has already sent a lawyer. However, Genki says that he has heard that since Genki has never signed any documents with Nintendo and has no non-disclosure agreement or NDA, there is no problem.

Genki previously explained that the mockup of the Switch successor it displayed was based on speculation and was not information provided by Nintendo. It's unclear how accurate this mockup is or whether Nintendo will take legal action in the future.
